Chinese Historical Story: The story of Fuxi, the ancestor of Humanities

According to legend, Fu Xi was born in a country like a paradise. His mother was a beautiful woman named Hua Xu. One day, taking advantage of the beautiful weather, Huaxu went out to play and came to a daze. There were strange flowers and plants everywhere, clouds and fog in the middle, and the scenery was beautiful. This was the legendary Thunder God’s territory – “Leize”. Thor looks like the head of a dragon and sends out roaring thunder by stirring his abdomen. When Hua Xu came here, he was intoxicated by the beautiful scenery here. Walking, he saw a huge footprint on the ground with strange shape. She thought this was the territory of Thor, and this huge footprint was undoubtedly Thor’s. Out of curiosity, Huaxu stepped on it involuntarily. Suddenly, she felt in a trance and hot all over. She was entangled by a snake and couldn’t move. It was a while before she could get out of that big footprint.

Hua Xu got pregnant soon after he went back, and later gave birth to a boy who looked like a snake. Hua Xu became pregnant after stepping on the footprints of Thor. The child looked like a snake. It was obvious that he was the child of Thor. Hua Xu named him Fuxi. Fu Xi was a demigod who combined man with God. He was clever since childhood.

The story of Fuxi

When Fu Xi grew up, Hua Xu died. At this time, Fu Xi decided to leave the place where he grew up and travel outside. As he walked eastward, he carefully observed all kinds of phenomena along the way, no matter the stars change or birds, animals, insects and fish.

He saw fishermen catching fish in the water with their bare hands, and hunters risking their lives to chase prey. Although it was very hard, they achieved little results. Fu Xi thought, how can we improve this situation? However, he did not stop. After walking for a long time, he felt tired and lay down under a tall tree to rest. After a while, he fell asleep and dreamed that he had come to heaven. A voice told him that heaven and the world needed a wise and holy man to transform, and he was that man. After Fu Xi woke up, he thought about the voice in his dream and continued to travel.

When he came to the Central Plains, he was deeply touched by the hard life of the people here and decided to end his tour and stay here to help the people here.

Once, Fu Xi was deeply inspired by the spider’s web. He knotted the rope into many large webs. The large mesh was used to catch animals and the small mesh was used to catch fish. Since there was a net, people’s harvest during fishing and hunting has greatly increased. When they can’t eat all the beasts they hunt, they keep them in captivity. Later, people began to raise livestock. In addition, he also invented musical instruments such as piano and harp, created music, and made music in people’s life; The invention of writing, used to record events, ended the history of tying rope to record events; The reform of marriage customs and the promotion of the etiquette of male and female marriage ended the original state of group marriage.

With the help of Fu Xi, people’s life was much richer and their quality of life was greatly improved. In order to thank Fu Xi, the people of all tribes unanimously elected him as our common Lord. He became the first true leader of the tribal alliance, the first king.

However, Fu Xi’s greatest contribution is to invent the eight trigrams according to the principle of the change of yin and Yang between heaven and earth, and give profound meanings to eight simple symbols, so as to summarize the changes of everything between heaven and earth. It is said that the place where Fu Xi painted eight trigrams is called guatai mountain. Under the governance of Fuxi, the world presented a scene of peace and prosperity, and heaven also gave a sign of auspiciousness to reward Fuxi.

One day, Fu Xi received a report that a strange animal appeared in guatai mountain, with a dragon head horse and very strange patterns. Fu Xi hurried to watch. When he got to guatai mountain, he saw the dragon horse. Fu Xi liked to observe and sometimes studied the footprints and patterns of birds and animals. He found that there were many black and white spots on the dragon horse. It seems that the distribution of these spots is very regular. Later, the dragon horse jumped onto a large stone in the Weishui river at the foot of the guatai mountain. The shape of the stone was like tai chi, which matched the patterns on the dragon horse. Fu Xitun realized something and drew the eight trigrams after he figured it out.

Eight trigrams have eight directions, which refer to the eight most representative natural bodies of heaven, earth, water, fire, wind, thunder, mountain and Ze. They reflect the growth and decline of natural Yin and Yang and the complementary relationship between everything in the world. They are the characteristics of Fuxi Culture. Until now, people without mathematics at home and abroad are still attracted by it and explore and study it. Nowadays, many scientists get enlightenment from it, so as to promote the development of science. It is said that Leibniz, a great German mathematician, invented binary system inspired by gossip.

Fuxi made great contributions to mankind. In order to commemorate the birth of Fuxi, the local people changed the place name to Chengji《 It is recorded in the book of Han Dynasty: “Chengji belongs to Hanyang County, which is Tianshui county. The place where the ancient emperor Fuxi was born. ” In other words, Tianshui in Gansu is the ancient Chengji. Therefore, Tianshui, Gansu Province is known as the “hometown of Xihuang”. Every year on the 16th of the first month, that is, Fuxi’s birthday, there is a Fuxi Culture Festival in Tianshui city.

According to legend, Fu Xi was the head of man, the snake body and the son of Thor. But since ancient times, there are many different views on Fuxi. Some say that in ancient times, Fuxi and Nuwa were brothers and sisters. After they married, they multiplied and were the ancestors of mankind. Some say that Fu Xi is the real founder of Taoism. The human head snake body is only used to express “Tao”, because it is the prototype of the word “Tao”, and he himself is not the human head snake body. Some scholars also pointed out that Fuxi belonged to the snake clan and respected the snake. The leaves or animal skins he wore were like scales or patterns on the snake. They were the clan emblem or totem symbol of the snake clan. There is also a saying that he was the title of the outstanding leader of the ancient Chinese tribe. Mi Xi, Pao Xi, Bao Xi, Fu Xi, or Xi Huang, Huang Xi, and Tai Hao are all the leaders of the Fuxi tribe. These people live in different times and have the same status, so they can all be called “Fuxi”.
