In ancient times, there was a gentleman named Guo Han. He was good at poetry and painting. He was humorous and liked to joke. One midsummer night, he enjoyed the cool under the tree, but he saw that the sky was as green as blue, the white clouds were rolling, the bright moon was hanging high, the breeze came slowly, and the courtyard was full of fragrance. At this time, a very beautiful fairy stood in front of Guo Han with a smile.
Guo Han asked politely, “Miss, who are you and where are you from?”
The fairy said, “I am the weaver, from heaven.”
Guo Han asked, “you come from heaven. Can you talk about things in heaven?”
The fairy asked, “what do you want to know?”
Guo Han said, “I want to know everything.”
The fairy said, “it’s hard. Where do you want me to start?”
Guo Han said, “people say immortals are smart. Just talk about them.”
The fairy said, “the four seasons in the sky are like spring, there is no heat in summer, and there is no severe cold in winter; the green trees are evergreen, and the flowers bloom. A hundred birds sing together on the branches, and fish can be seen in the water. There is no disease, no war, no taxes. In short, there is no suffering in the sky.”
Guo Han said, “the sky is so good. Why did you come to the world?”
The fairy said, “it’s a pity that you are still a scholar. Your predecessor, Mr. Zhuang Zhou, said, ‘if you stay in a house full of orchids for a long time, you can’t smell the fragrance’. If you stay in the sky for a long time, you will inevitably be a little lonely and occasionally go to the world to play.”
Guo Han asked, “I heard that there is a medicine that people can live forever after taking it. Do you know where it is?”
The fairy said, “there is no such medicine on earth. It is everywhere in the sky.”
Guo Han said, “since there are many in the sky, you should bring some down and let people taste it.”
The fairy said, “you can’t bring it down. The things in the sky will lose their aura when they are brought to the world. Otherwise, they would have been eaten by Emperor Qin Shihuang and Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty.”
Guo Han said, “you keep saying that you come from heaven. What can you prove that you are not lying?”
The fairy showed Guo Han his clothes. Guo Han read it carefully. It was strange that the fairy’s clothes were not sewn.
The fairy said, “it’s perfect. You don’t even know this. What talent do you call? I think you’re a complete fool.”
After hearing this, Guo Han laughed and looked again. The fairy was gone.
